TradesViz vs TapeSheet

Prices and features as published, August 2026. Last checked 21 August 2026; next check due 21 November 2026.

The short version. A scalper burns 3,000 executions in a week. We do not count your trades.

This is the comparison we take most seriously, because TradesViz is the most feature-competitive product in the category and it beats us outright in the segment we most want to win.

Start with what TradesViz does better, because it is substantial. Its prop-firm compliance engine carries around 20 pre-built firms across roughly 65 configurations, models four distinct drawdown types — trailing end-of-day, trailing intraday, static, and trailing-to-static-lock — and adds real-time drawdown-buffer and daily-loss widgets, violation alerts, and retroactive pass/fail simulation. Our prop tracker models several drawdown types from manually maintained presets. Theirs is years ahead. If prop compliance is why you want a journal, use TradesViz.

The free tier is genuinely generous too: 50-plus visualisations and a real analytics suite at no cost, which is more than most paid products ship.

The limit is the execution cap. Three thousand executions a month sounds enormous until you scalp. An intraday trader taking forty round trips a day, entering and exiting in parts, reaches it inside a week — and an execution is a fill, not a trade, so one position closed in three partials counts three times. TapeSheet counts nothing, because there is no meter to run: your trades are parsed in your browser and there is no server to pay for.

What TradesViz does better than TapeSheet

This section exists on every page in this cluster and it is never empty. If you are reading a comparison that has no such section, you are reading an advert.

  • The prop-firm engine. Around 20 firms and 65 configurations, four drawdown models, real-time buffer widgets, violation alerts and retroactive simulation. This is the strongest single feature either of us has and it is theirs. Our prop tracker is not in the same category and will not be for a long time.
  • Analytics depth. Over 600 statistics on the paid tiers and more than 50 visualisations even free. We compute 26 metrics deliberately — a smaller set we can explain and caveat properly — but if you want depth, they have it.
  • Direct MT5 import. Fewer steps than exporting a report and dropping it on a page.

Who should pick which

Pick TradesViz

You are on a prop-firm evaluation and want compliance modelled properly, or you want the deepest analytics available at any price. Both are good reasons and neither is close.

Pick TapeSheet

You trade enough that an execution cap is a real constraint, you do not want an account, or you are not willing for your trading history to be processed server-side — which, on a funded account, is a position worth thinking about.

The honest summary: TradesViz is a better analytics product than TapeSheet today. What we have that it structurally cannot is that nothing leaves your device and nothing is counted. Whether that trade is worth making is a decision rather than a marketing question, and it depends entirely on which of those two things you care about.

Questions

What counts as an execution?

A fill, not a position. A trade opened in one order and closed in three partials is four executions. That distinction is why scalpers and anyone using partial exits reach the free-tier cap far sooner than the number suggests.

Will TapeSheet’s prop tracker catch up?

The plan is 15-plus verified presets with documented provenance and four drawdown models, and per-firm pages stay unwritten until that exists — a stale rules page is worse than no page. Even then it will not match retroactive simulation. If prop compliance is your main need today, use TradesViz.
