Terms of use

Most of what terms of use normally cover does not apply here, because there is no account to suspend, no subscription to cancel and no data of yours on our servers to argue about. What is left is short.

Last updated: August 2026

1. What you are agreeing to

By using TapeSheet at tapesheet.com you accept these terms, the risk disclaimer and the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, close the tab; nothing has been created on your behalf and nothing needs to be undone.

2. What the service is

TapeSheet is a free, browser-based tool that reads MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 statement files you supply, computes analytics from them, and lets you keep a trading journal stored in your own browser. It is provided free of charge and funded by advertising on content pages.

There is no account, no sign-up and no server-side processing of your trading data. That is an architectural fact rather than a policy commitment, and it shapes everything below.

3. Not advice

Nothing TapeSheet produces is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and no advisory relationship is created by using it. Trading forex and CFDs carries a high risk of loss. Therisk disclaimer forms part of these terms and sets out, specifically, which figures are approximations and in which direction they are wrong.

4. No warranty on parsing accuracy

The MetaTrader statement format is undocumented and varies by platform version, broker customisation, language and character encoding. TapeSheet is provided as isand as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results.

Your statement, and your broker’s own records, are authoritative — not our reading of them. Do not use TapeSheet as the record of account for tax, accounting, audit, dispute or prop-firm compliance purposes. Where a figure here disagrees with your broker, the broker is correct and we would like to hear about it.

5. Your data, your responsibility

Your statements and journal live in your browser’s storage on your device. We cannot read them, cannot recover them and hold no copy. Browser storage can be cleared by you, by your browser, or by the operating system reclaiming space, and some browsers evict site data after a period of disuse.

Keeping backups is yours to do. The analyzer’sSettings → Export writes your complete journal to a single JSON file. We are not liable for data loss, and there is no mechanism by which we could restore anything.

6. Acceptable use

You may use TapeSheet for personal or commercial analysis of trading records you are entitled to hold. You may not:

  • Use it to process data you have no right to, including another person’s statements without their consent.
  • Attempt to disrupt or overload the site, or probe it for vulnerabilities without contacting us first (responsible disclosure is welcome — see contact).
  • Scrape or bulk-copy the site’s written content to republish it as your own.
  • Present TapeSheet output as advice, as a regulated report, or as verification of trading results by a third party.
  • Remove or obscure attribution from any shared report or exported image that carries it.

Using the tool in ways we have not thought of is fine. It runs on your machine; we are not in a position to police it, and would not want to be.

7. Intellectual property

The site’s written content, design, name and logo belong to TapeSheet. The analytics your trades produce belong to you, and we claim nothing over your statements, journal entries, notes, tags or screenshots — we never receive them.

MetaTrader, MT4 and MT5 are trademarks of MetaQuotes Software Corp. Other product and company names on this site are trademarks of their respective owners and are used nominatively, to describe file formats and to make factual comparisons. TapeSheet is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to MetaQuotes, any broker, any prop firm, or any other product named on this site.

8. Advertising and third-party links

Content pages may carry advertising, and advertising is never placed inside the analyzer, dashboard, journal, trade drawer or prop-firm tracker. Advertisements and any linked third-party sites are not under our control and are not endorsements. How the site is funded, and the rules we hold ourselves to, are set out on the ethics page.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TapeSheet is not liable for trading losses, lost profits, lost data, missed prop-firm evaluations, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site — whether from a defect, an inaccurate figure, an unavailable service or a decision taken after reading something here. Trading decisions are yours alone.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Availability and changes

The service may change, break, or become unavailable without notice, and features may be added or removed. Because the analyzer is a single file that runs locally, a page you have already loaded keeps working even if the site does not — including with the network disconnected.

These terms may be updated; the date at the top changes when they are, and material changes that affect what leaves your device will also be announced on the home page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Ending it

There is no account, so there is nothing to terminate and nothing to cancel. Stop using the site whenever you like. To remove your data, use Settings → Clear all data in the analyzer or clear site data in your browser — that is a complete deletion, because there is no second copy anywhere.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. “Non-exclusive” matters: if mandatory consumer-protection law in your own country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live, this clause does not take that right away.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms: hello@tapesheet.com, or see the contact page.
